UC San Diego provides a multitude of professional and career development services to support the variety of career options available to our students and scholars.

grAdvantage aims to prepare graduate students and postdoctoral scholars for a range of careers, from industry to academia.  The program was developed with input from industry leaders in the San Diego Community and provides a suite of resources to help participants develop essential leadership, teamwork, career exploration and communication skills to become successful leaders in their field.

In addition, there are professional development and advising opportunities that specifically target different levels of education and training.

Office of Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs is committed to enhancing the postdoctoral experience by offering a professional development curriculum to support postdoctoral scholars in their training and beyond.

Postdoctoral Association (PDA) is comprised of postdocs who volunteer their time to enhance the postdoctoral experience by building community, organizing professional development programs and networking opportunities.  PDA is officially recognized as an Academic Advisory Group under the authority of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Office of Research Affairs, (ORA) and advised by the Office of Posdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs.
